Boost the WiFi range on your PC
The BearExtender is a high-power plug 'n' play USB WiFi adapter that will achieve up to a fourfold increase in WiFi range for your PC. This is the ideal wireless adapter solution for laptops, which currently cannot sustain a satisfactory WiFi connection with the built-in wireless adapter. It is also a perfect solution for desktop PCs without a built-in wireless adapter, where standard USB or PCI WiFi adapters do not provide adequate power to overcome distance from the router or internal structural obstacles.
How it works
BearExtender is basically a high power WiFi receiver/transmitter with a maximum of 700mW output power. The power of this radio output combined with an external antenna with 2dBi gain makes it possible for the BearExtender to achieve typically 2-4 times the range of a standard wireless adapter. It comes with a padded clip so that it can be conveniently attached to your computer's LCD monitor.
Supported compatibility

The BearExtender-PC has been designed to operate with the following Microsoft Windows operating systems (32-bit and 64-bit):
- Windows 7
- Windows Vista and
- Windows XP
This BearExtender adapter is fully supported by the manufacturers for the operating systems above. However one reviewer has successfully tested the device operating successfully with the Ubuntu 10.10 operating system and we were pleased to discover that the BearExtender-PC works well with the Popcorn Hour A-210 and C-200 networked media players. These non-Windows environments are not supported in any way by the manufacturer.

Why "Bear" Extender?
The device was designed by University of California, Berkeley graduate, Roland Saekow and on that campus the WiFi networks were called "AirBears" - hence the BearExtender.
